Reducing crime would strengthen our community and save $20,000 a year in taxpayer money for each former inmate who does not return. Pulaski County Sheriff Eric S. Higgins has continued existing programs and created new ones to make sure this happens.
CSI Academy, an intensive prerelease classroom experience four hours a day, five days per week for 12 weeks. Some examples of curriculum are:

– Search for Significance
– Women’s Suffering/Healing Heart
– Conquering Chemical Dependency
– Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
– Embracing Purpose
– Parenting Classes
– Series 33
Pre-release career Classes
The second, six week phase prepares inmates to return to the workforce providing a bridge out of
poverty. Some career classes offered:
– Welding Program
– Industrial Manufacturing
– Culinary Arts
Re-entry drug programs provide a mechanism for the successful reintegration of the serious drug-using offender back into society.
